The book Principles of Organic Medicinal Chemistry describes the principles and concepts of chemistry, synthetic schemes, structure activity relationships, mechanism of action and clinical uses of carbon compounds in the light of modern trends. This book comprises of 22 chapters. Chapter 1 gives an introduction to medicinal chemistry, Chapter 2 explain about the basics on principles of drug action and physicochemical properties of organic medicinal, substances are elaborated in Chapter 3. The concepts of Prodrugs and Drug metabolism are summarized in Chapter 4 and Chapter 5 respectively. Chapter 6 to Chapter 22 explains chemistry, properties, mechanism of action, structure activity relationships, chemistry of newer drugs and clinical uses of various therapeutic agents. At the end of book, a set of more than 200 essays and short questions and 225 objective questions with answers are strategically designed.
About the Author(s): Dr. Rama Rao Nadendla
has been working as Professor in Pharmaceutical Chemistry department of KVSR Siddhartha College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Vijayawada. He has 17 years teaching various pharmaceutical chemistry subjects. He secured Gold Medal (1987) from Gulbarga University, Gulbarga and graduated in Distinction from BITS, Pilani and was awarded Ph.D. by JNTU, Hyderabad under the guidance of Prof. K.P.R. Chowdary.
He has over sixty publications which include research and review papers in National/International Journals. He is an Editorial Advisory Board member of International Journal of Pharmaceutical Excipients and Pharma Review. He received Prof. M.L. Khurana Memorial Best Research paper Award from IJPSC in 2001. He is the author of Textbook of Pharmaceutical organic chemistry (Victory Publishers), Principles of Pharmaceutical Organic Chemistry (Revised and Enlarged, Macmillan India Pvt. Limited) and Pharmaceutical Organic Chemistry (Heterocyclics and Natural Products, Valabh Prakasan).
