Product Description:
Written by an individual with experience as both a chemist and a patent attorney
, The Chemist's Companion Guide to Patent law covers everything the student or working chemist needs to know about patentability, explaining important concepts of patent law (such as novelty, non-obviousness, and freedom-to-operate) in easy-to-understand terms. Through abundant examples from case law as well as real-world situations with which a researcher might be faced, this book provides readers with a better understanding of how to put that knowledge into practice.
Everything a working chemist needs to know about patents—in easy–to–understand terms
For people working in the chemical, pharmaceutical, and biotechnology industries, understanding patents is vitally important when it comes to safeguarding their intellectual property. Unfortunately, most researchers involved in testing and evaluating novel chemicals have a limited knowledge of laws that pertain directly to their work.
This thorough, accessible reference fills this critical educational gap by delivering relevant legal concepts in a clear, concise manner free of specialized jargon. The Chemist′s Companion Guide to Patent Law breaks down the most salient patent information by providing a combination of explanations germane to a given topic coupled with discussions centered on actual federal court opinions. This indispensible reference:
* Provides straightforward explanations of patent law terminology, including "novelty" and "non–obviousness"
* Uses examples from both case law and real–world situations to illustrate aspects of intellectual property law that concern chemists
* Is appropriate for researchers across many disciplines who need a basic guide to patent law
* Includes a table of cases that lists pertinent chemical court cases
The Chemist′s Companion Guide to Patent Law imparts basic patent law knowledge in a breezy format that frees up time for working chemists and students by helping them stay out of the courtroom to focus their attention where it belongs—in the laboratory.

Modern Terpyridine Chemistry
Publisher: Wiley-VCH 2006-08-18 | 237 Pages | ISBN: 352731475X | PDF | 14 MB
The first book to didactically illustrate this particular, prominent class of supramolecular building-blocks covers topics ranging from terpyridine syntheses, via their chemistry and properties, supramolecular structures, and multinuclear metal complexes, right up to functionalized polymers, 3D-architectures, and surfaces.
Invaluable for students and lecturers in chemistry and biochemistry, materials scientists, as well as polymer, complex and physicochemists.
Heterocyclic Chemistry
Publisher: Wiley-Blackwell (an imprint of John Wiley & Sons Ltd) | ISBN: 1405193654 | edition 2010 | PDF | 718 pages | 10,3 mb
This book gives a thorough review of the chemistry of each particular class of heterocycles, covering structure, reactivity, and synthesis. Unique to this book is a coverage of the organometalic chemistry associated with each class. It is my opinion that this book is a touch better than the Thieme and Gilcrest heterocyclic books, based mostly on the organization of material. I do wish, however, that the authors had given aminoheterocycles a bit more attention!

Ion-Radical Organic Chemistry: Principles and Applications, Second Edition
CRC | 2008 | ISBN: 0849390680 | 672 pages | PDF | 15 MB
Much new data concerning the behavior of organic ion-radicals has developed in the past few years. Consolidating knowledge from a number of disciplines, Ion-Radical Organic Chemistry: Principles and Applications, Second Edition presents the recent changes that have occurred in the field since the publication of the first edition in 2003.
This volume examines the formation, transformation, and application of ion-radicals in typical conditions of organic synthesis. Avoiding complex mathematics, the author explains the principles of ion-radical organic chemistry and presents an overview of organic ion-radical reactions. He reviews methods of determining ion-radical mechanisms and controlling ion-radical reactions. Wherever applicable, the text addresses issues relating to ecology and biomedical concerns as well as inorganic participants of the ion-radical organic reactions.
After reviewing the nature of organic ion-radicals and their ground-state electronic structure, the book discusses their formation, the relationship between electronic structure and reactivity, mechanism and regulation of reactions, stereochemical aspects, synthetic opportunities, and practical applications. Additional topics include electronic and opto-electronic devices, organic magnets and conductors, lubricants, other materials, and reactions of industrial or biomedical importance.
The book concludes by providing an outlook on possible future development in this field. Researchers and practitioners engaged in active work on synthetic or mechanistic organic chemistry and its practical applications will find this text to be invaluable in both its scope and its depth.

The Chemistry of Pincer Compounds
The Chemistry of Pincer Compounds.
Elsevier Science | ISBN: 0444531386 | 2007-07-23 | PDF | 470 pages | 9.7 MB
Pincer complexes are formed by the binding of a chemical structure to a metal atom with at least one carbon-metal bond. Usually the metal atom has three bonds to a chemical backbone, enclosing the atom like a pincer. The resulting structure protects the metal atom and gives it unique properties.
The last decade has witnessed the continuous growth in the development of pincer complexes. These species have passed from being curiosity compounds to chemical chameleons able to perform a wide variety of applications. Their unique metal bound structures provide some of the most active catalysts yet known for organic transformations involving the activation of bonds. The Chemistry of Pincer Compounds details use of pincer compounds including homogeneous catalysis, enantioselective organic transformations, the activation of strong bonds, the biological importance of pincer compounds as potential therapeutic or pharmaceutical agents, dendrimeric and supported materials.
